Madeyganj Police Arrests Most Wanted Human Trafficking Accused

Lucknow: The Madeyganj Police, under the Lucknow Police Commissionerate’s Central Zone, have arrested a key accused in a sensitive human trafficking and immoral activities case involving minor girls. The arrested individual, Mohammad Armaan, carried a reward of ₹25,000 on his head and was wanted in a major case under multiple stringent sections of IPC, POCSO Act, SC/ST Act, and the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.

Background of the Case

The case dates back to February 25, 2024, when the complainant, a resident of Lucknow belonging to the Scheduled Caste community, reported at Madeyganj Police Station that her minor daughter had been kept unlawfully, assaulted, and threatened with death by the accused for refusing to convert her religion. An FIR was filed under relevant sections of the IPC, SC/ST Act, and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act against the accused Mohammad Armaan, son of the late Nazim Ali.

During the course of the investigation, it was found that the accused, along with others, was involved in luring minor girls into immoral activities. Based on this, the case was upgraded to include Sections 370/372/376DA/511 IPC, Sections 5/6/17 of the POCSO Act, and Sections 3(2)5, 3(2)VA of the SC/ST Act, while certain earlier charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.
